Feature glossary

Every ActionOS feature, explained

The pricing page uses real product terms, not marketing fluff — but a term is only useful if you know what it means. This page is the full definition for every one of them, in plain language, with no jargon left unexplained.

Plan Mode

Plan Mode is where you step back from today's single action and see the full path: every milestone, every action under it, and how the workload is distributed across the days ahead. You can reorder actions, edit deadlines, add or remove actions, and request an adaptive replan if the pace no longer fits.

Focus Mode

Focus Mode strips everything away except the one action you're doing right now: its title, its definition of done, an optional countdown timer, and an optional background sound. No other goals, no task list, no notifications competing for attention — just the next right action until it's done.

Recover Mode

Recover Mode replaces the guilt-driven "you're behind" screen with a real choice: a five-minute version of your next action, a small preparation step, a low-energy admin task, or simply a rescheduled plan. Reduced progress still counts — Recover Mode exists so a bad day doesn't turn into a bad month.

AI-generated path

When you type a goal, ActionOS calls an AI planning step that converts it into a structured path: milestones, and under each one, small actions with a clear verb, a concrete object, a time estimate, and a definition of done. This is the one step in the product with a real per-use cost, which is why it's the feature most directly tied to your plan.

Active goal

ActionOS tracks a single active goal at a time for every plan today — starting a new goal archives whichever one was active before (it stays in your history, it just stops being the one driving Today/Plan/Review/Commit). This isn't a storage limit; it's how the app is designed to keep you focused on one thing.

Expert Path

An Expert Path is created by an approved expert, not generated by AI — milestones, actions, resources, and check-ins built from a real, proven process. Expert Paths go through an editorial review (credibility, clarity, safety, no unrealistic claims) before publication, and following one requires Pro or above.

ActionOS Original

ActionOS Originals are complete, ready-to-follow paths ActionOS writes and owns directly (e.g. "Validate a Business Idea in 14 Days"), used both as launch content and as a consistent-quality alternative to the open Expert Path marketplace. Following an Original requires Pro or above, same as an Expert Path.

Momentum Score

Momentum measures real forward movement: milestone completion, action adherence, returning after a missed day, and honest replanning — not a fragile daily-streak counter that resets to zero the moment you miss one day. A missed day that gets replanned well can still be good Momentum.

Adaptive replanning

Instead of marking a missed action as a failure, adaptive replanning asks what actually changed — was the action too big, is the deadline unrealistic, are you blocked — and proposes a smaller or rescheduled version of the upcoming plan. You approve or dismiss the proposal; nothing changes without your say.

Weekly Review

The Weekly Review summarizes actions completed, focus time, milestones advanced, missed actions and why, and upcoming workload — then proposes an adapted plan for the week ahead that you approve or dismiss. Free gets a basic version; Pro and above get a personalized one with deeper analytics.

Accountability partner

A social commitment lets you name a trusted person as an accountability partner. They see only what you explicitly share about that goal — never your full account — and can encourage you or be notified of a missed action, if you've authorized that.

Referee

For stronger commitments (Commit tier), a referee reviews the evidence you submit for a required action and confirms or rejects it. This is what makes a financial or high-stakes social commitment auditable rather than self-reported.

Commitment

A Commitment is a stronger structure on top of a goal: a schedule, completion rules, and a review date. Personal commitments need no one else. Social commitments add an accountability partner or referee. Financial commitments (voluntary money at risk for missed actions) are designed but intentionally not yet turned on publicly, pending legal and payment-provider review — see the Commit page for current status.

Founding price

The first 300 customers (combined across Pro and Commit) who buy an annual plan get a permanently lower price for that plan, honored for up to two renewal cycles as long as the subscription stays continuously active. There's no lifetime plan — founding pricing is a launch-window discount, not a forever deal.

Action Profile

Set once during onboarding (and editable anytime in Settings): how much time you have per day, which days you work, your typical energy pattern, and whether you prefer gentle or firm accountability. Every AI-generated path is personalized against this profile.

History

Free keeps a rolling window of recent history; Pro and above keep your complete history, including every archived goal, indefinitely. Data export (a full copy of your data) is available on every plan regardless of history window.
